About

Project MELODY (Music Enrichment Learning Opportunity Designed for Youth) is a social educational initiative that aims to work with NGOs and community groups to encourage and bolster wellness through the medium of music. The project aims to do this specifically through youth from underserved communities by creating resources for them to understand how music can be used to stimulate wellness whilst enabling them to hone their own individual musical talents. Empowerment and wellness are the two pillars of this project, which it aims to demonstrate through curated educational resources, capital for capacity-building, and strategic outreach.

Being equipped with the knowledge of how to achieve wellness, whether it is mental or physical, along with the tools to necessitate change is important if we are to mitigate the issue at hand. The intersection between education and society is undeniable and it is crucial that we use this intersection to action change and aid in the betterment of the society while also specifically targeting empowerment of marginalized and vulnerable groups.

Through MELODY, we seek to conduct a three pronged approach, wherein we firstly develop open educational resources exploring the importance and ability of music as a tool to achieve wellness; secondly, collaborate with NGOs to broaden the reach of the educational resources; and finally, fundraise to support the beneficiaries of the project and the NGO they are working with in order to help them materialize their dreams.
